Early Late Triassic (TJ47a)

Province:
Xizang (Tibet)

Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Langjiexue and the north slope of Zhela Mount in Gongga Country, Tibet. It was named as Sunuolin Member by South Tibet Geological Team of Tibet Geological Bureau in 1963, and then renamed as Sunuolin Fm by Wang Naiwen in 1983.. Lower formation in the Niru Gr?

Synonym: Sunorin Fm, Sunolin Fm (spellings). The Triassic strata in the area of Zhongba and Lazi in Tibet were first named Lazi Group (Comprehensive Team of Tibet, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1962) that was later used in the Cretaceous by Wu Haoruo (1977). The Upper Triassic part of the strata was named as the Langjie Fm by the southern Tibetan geological team of the Tibet Geological Bureau in 1963 and was divided into the Sunuolin, Chicun and Chola Members from in order. The Second Geological Team of Tibet Geological Bureau, Wuhan Geological Institute (1976), and Institute of Geology of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (1977) successively renamed the Langjie Fm as Qiongjie Gr and Yangzhuoyong Gr respectively. In 1983, Wang Naiwen et al. changed the rank of Langjie Fm to Langjie Gr, and elevated the Sunorin Member and Chacun Member to formations accordingly, representing the Carnian and Norian of Late Triassic respectively
